Creative Partnerships (CP) was the government's flagship creative learning programme designed to develop the skills young people need in order to achieve not only in exams and extra-curricular activities, but also in the workplace and wider society. As an Agent for CP from 2007-2011, CIA brokered innovative long-term relationships between creative professionals and schools to develop depth and variety in creative educational programming both inside and beyond traditional environments.

Schools were encouraged to explore cross curricular teaching and learning through a variety of artistic practices. The CIA successfully worked with childrens' centres/nurseries, primary and secondary schools and a range of creative practitioners including artists, designer/makers, performers, filmmakers and scientists, amongst others.

The programme is underpinned by a belief that creativity is the wider ability to question, make connections, innovate, problem solve and reflect critically and that creative learning, raises aspiration and motivation. Partnerships inspired young people, teachers and creative professionals to challenge how they work, experiment with new ideas and gain new knowledge and skills.

The CIA's role within CP was to initiate and manage relationships between Creative Partners, schools and their communities, develop and oversee the implementation of creative programmes, and ensure that children, teachers and creative practitioners contributed and gained equally from the experience.
